Saturday, June 25, 2011 was a very, very happy day, because it was
the day that PFC Russell McCoy returned to the loving embrace of his
family.  Russ, son of Lauren Shields, spent a year in Afghanistan as a
Cavalry Scout with the 10th Mountain Division out of Ft. Drum, New
York.  His homecoming was quite a celebration, with a motorcycle
escort by riders from Warriors Watch and Patriot Guard, a rowdy
group of supporters on the highway overpass, and a huge crowd of
people waiting to greet him at a party in his honor in Petaluma.  KTVU
Channel 2 News covered the story and even did a live broadcast from
the house.  It's a good day when one of our chicks returns to the nest,
and we are all so happy for Russell, Lauren, and the entire family.
